Linda Currin
Linda is our Chair of Trustees
She first joined The Olive Branch in January 2019, newly retired and arrived in Lancaster, and, despite initially only intending to volunteer by collecting food donations for a couple of hours a week, quickly became involved and became a familiar face for those who would call into The Olive Branch for support.
“I loved the simple way The Olive Branch offered hospitality, support, sometimes prayer, and always a warm welcome to anyone and everyone who came through the door.”
Although she had to step back from volunteering during the pandemic, the feeling that God was ‘nudging’ her to contribute in other ways resulted in her becoming a trustee in early 2021. That feeling of being called to give more and go deeper certainly didn’t go away, and, despite returning as a regular volunteer, she became our new Chair of Trustees in June 2022.
"“This is an exciting time as The Olive Branch looks to welcome people ‘face to face’ again as a core part of our work, and extend how we can love and serve people facing difficult times. This feels like the place where I can best be a follower of Jesus and see his love touch people’s lives. Our tag line ‘faith in action’ is so right!”
Highlight of being involved at The Olive Branch:
‘“It’s very hard to pick out a single occasion! My thoughts go instead to the little moment of both prayer and adrenalin every time the doorbell would ring as a guest arrives: not knowing who’s coming in, what their circumstances might be, or where a conversation might lead; but being sure that both of us are known to God and loved by him – so let’s open the door and dive in!”
